Student ZHANG Yujun Won the Third Prize in the Seventh “Zhonglun Cup” National Commercial Arbitration Thesis Contest

The 2019 China Youth Arbitration Forum and the Award Ceremony of the Seventh “Zhonglun Cup” National Commercial Arbitration Thesis Contest was held on November 5th, 2019 in the Mingde Law Building of Renmin University of China. The forum had heated discussion about hot issues regarding revision of “Arbitration Law of the People’s Republic of China” through round table discussion and debate. Winners of the thesis contest received their awards during the forum.

The “Zhonglun Cup” National Commercial Arbitration Thesis Contest aims at encouraging and cultivating talents specialized in commercial arbitration and collecting advice for the reform and refinement of arbitration mechanism. It has extensive influence on both practice and research of arbitration. The contest was co-organized by China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (“CIETAC”), Renmin University of China, All China Lawyers Association and Beijing Lawyers Association. Beijing Zhonglun Law Firm provides sponsorship and Renmin University of China Law School undertook the activities. Specifically, the paper titled China’s Judicial Review System of Arbitration —— Reporting Mechanism or Appeal Mechanism?” of ZHANG Yujun (Mentor: Professor CHEN Li) won the third prize of the award among about 112 participants’ thesis. She was therefore invited to attend the China Youth Arbitration Forum and the Award Ceremony of Thesis Contest. 

The China Youth Arbitration Forum is one of the events of 2019 the Seventh China Arbitration Week. During the forum, WANG Chengjie (Vice Chairman & Secretary General of CIETAC), WANG Liming (Vice President of Renmin University of China), DU Huanfang (Vice Dean of Law School, Renmin University of China) and ZHANG Lixia (Director of Arbitration and Mediation Committee of All China Lawyers Association) gave opening address. Moreover, JIA Dongming (former Director of the Legislative Affairs Commission of National People’s Congress Standing Committee) also delivered a speech on “To the Youth of Arbitration”. Arbitration practitioners, well-known experts and scholars, winners of the thesis contest have actively participated in the forum.
