WIPO Director General Francis Gurry was appointed honorary Professor of Fudan University
The Appointment Ceremony of Dr. Francis Gurry Honorary Professorship of Fudan University was held at Fudan Law School on 5th November 2018. Vice Mayor of Shanghai Municipal Government Chen Qun, Deputy Secretary General of Shanghai Municipal Government Zong Ming, Deputy Director General of WIPO Wang Binying, Chairperson of Fudan University Council Jiao Yang, Vice President of Fudan University Chen Zhimin were present at the ceremony.

Chen Zhimin delivered a welcome speech, introducing the brilliant contribution of Dr. Francis Gurry in the field of intellectual property and appreciating his concern for Fudan University’s disciplinary construction in intellectual property and law. He hoped that WIPO would offer more support and help to Fudan University in regard to talent cultivation, academic communication and other aspects. The ceremony was presided over by Dean of Fudan Law School Wang Zhiqiang.
Chen Zhimin delivered a welcome speech
Dr. Francis Gurry said he was honored to join Fudan University. In his oration, the challenges and changes of current international intellectual property system was referred. Also, he emphasized the imperious demands of building a new international intellectual property rights system and affirmed the leadership of China in facilitating the development of this field.
Dr. Francis Gurry entered WIPO in 1985 and he was elected to Director General on 1st Oct 2008. He has made great contribution to the protection of intellectual property worldwide and the cooperation between WIPO and China.
