Fudan University Delegation visited Switzerland
A delegation led by Prof. CHEN Li, Vice dean of Fudan Law School, including Prof. ZHANG Naigen and Prof. GONG Baihua, was invited to visit the World Trade Organization (WTO) Appellate Body and some leading academic institutions in Switzerland to seek opportunities for collaborative research and internship program from 7th to 12th April 2018.
The delegation met Body members Mr. Peter Van den Bossche, Ms. ZHAO Hong and Mr. Werner Zdouc, Director of the WTO Appellate Body Secretariat as well as other officials of the WTO Rules Division and Legal Affairs Division. The two sides had a deep discussion on the challenge of multilateral trade regime and the possible countermeasures, legal issues on recent WTO appealing cases, etc. During the meetings, consensus was reached on regular visiting and exchange programs under which Body members will address lectures at Fudan Law School and Fudan students may have opportunities for regular internship in WTO.
The delegation also visited the Graduate Institute Geneva, the World Trade Institute of University of Bern and Faculty of Law, University of Geneva. The delegation hoped to expand cooperation to students/faculty exchange, joint supervision of Ph.D candidates and Dual Degree (JM-LL.M) program. The host institutes extended a warm welcome to the delegation and showed strong desire for mutual benefit collaboration in the above areas.
The Fudan Law School delegation's visit to Switzerland has gained a great success, which not only explores new fields of international cooperation, such as establishing academic contact with WTO, but also contributes to the internationalization strategy of Fudan Law School.
