The Fudan Law Commercial Mediation Debate Team has secured several awards at the inaugural Shanghai Universities Debate Tournament on Commercial Mediation held in Shanghai, October 26 to November 2, 2021. The Debate Tournament on Commercial Mediation aims to raise awareness of the Singapore Convention on Mediation. It was organized under the auspices of the Shanghai Law Society, Shanghai Bureau of Justice, Shanghai Bar Association, Shanghai Commercial Mediation Center. 

Fudan Law School participated in both the Chinese debate tournament and the English demonstration round. The team was among a select group of participating teams to receive several awards. Fudan Law School received an “Excellent Organizer Award”. Associate Professor Lu Zhian received an “Excellent Coach Award”. Fang Zhenyu received a “Best Oralist Award” (preliminary round), “Best Popular Oralist Award”. English Demonstration team received a “Special Award for Excellence”, Li Ruoqing received a “Best Oralist Award”.

 The Chinese team consisted of graduate students Xu Chuhan, Fang Zhenyu, Yuan Ziqian, Xu Leheng, Zeng Jiayi. The English team consisted of graduate student Li Xinyue, undergraduate students Li Ruoqing, Yan Jiarui. Dr. Liu Guiqiang coached the former, and Dr. Liu Lu coached the latter. The team most appreciates Professor Chen Li, Associate Professors Lu Zhian, Chen Li, Dr. Liu Yang, graduate students Xu Kaiting and Wang Lvzhi for their invaluable assistance and guidance in preparatory training for the competition.

The participation in both events and the receipt of a string of awards testified to Fudan Law School’s commitment to providing varied resources to train students to excel in the study of law，economics, commerce, and the English language.
