Fudan University Team Won the First Prize in the 20th CIETAC CUP
The 20th CIETAC Cup International Commercial Arbitration Moot was held online from 27 November 2022 to 2 December 2022. More than 1000 contestants from 93 teams participated in the CIETAC Cup. This year’s competition also invited contestants from the UK, the Netherlands, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR and other countries and regions to compete with students from various universities in mainland China. More than 230 arbitrators, lawyers and scholars from 27 countries and regions judged 201 matches. The number of participating teams, contestants and matches reached a record high this year.
After several rounds of fierce competition, Fudan University Team won the first prize. Yu Yunke won the “Best Oralist” award in the Elimination Round. Jin Yidan received the “Outstanding Contribution” award. After the contest, distinguished arbitrators commended students from Fudan Law School for their critical thinking skills and fluency in English.

CIETAC Cup International Commercial Arbitration Moot is organized by China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC). The competition, in which all submissions and oral arguments are in English, aims to improve participating students’ international commercial arbitration theory, practice and language skills.
Fudan University Team has performed well in the Vis Moot series in recent years. This year’s Fudan Vis Team comprises Lu Anni (LL.B. 2024), Xu Jianing (LL.B. 2024), Zeng Yingmiao (LL.B. 2024), Liu Xinyi (LL.B. 2024), Sha Tong (LL.B. 2024), Yu yunke (LL.B. 2025), Chen Lingyun (LL.B. 2025), Bai Lijie (LL.B. 2025), Zhou Fengming (LL.M. 2024), Jin Yidan (J.M. 2024), and Zhou Xinyi (J.M. 2024). After forming the Team in early October, through several weeks of laborious preparation, the Team had completed and submitted memoranda, and held several intensive practice sessions before the event.
In recent years, Fudan University moot teams have made remarkable progress in various competitions at home and abroad. This shall be attributed to the enthusiastic support from Fudan Law School administration and faculty members. Increasing numbers of students could get involved in famous international moot court competitions, including Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, Nelson Mandela World Human Rights Moot Court Competition, Red Cross International Humanitarian Law Moot, and ICC Moot Court Competition.
