LU Bingbin

Bingbin Lu (Lyu) is a professor at Fudan University Law School. He earned his LL.B. from Fudan University (Shanghai, China), an LL.M. from the Transnational Law and Business University (Seoul, South Korea), and a Ph.D. in Law from Fudan University. Following the completion of his doctorate, he joined the Law School of Nanjing University in 2011. In June 2024, he returned to Fudan University Law School as a full professor.

Professor Lu's primary research interests lie in intellectual property law and data law. He has published approximately ten articles in international journals such as Computer Law & Security Review (SSCI), Journal of the Copyright Society of the USA (SSCI), Queen Mary Journal of Intellectual Property (SSCI), Journal of Intellectual Property Rights (SSCI), Marine Policy (SSCI), Energy Policy (SSCI), Journal of Information Science (SSCI), European Intellectual Property Review, Global Jurist Frontiers, and Corporate Governance Law Review, among others. Additionally, he has published extensively in leading Chinese law journals, including Chinese Journal of Law, China Legal Science, Jurist, Science of Law, Law Review (Faxue Pinglun), Journal of Comparative Law, and Nanjing University Law Review.

He is the author of four Chinese-language monographs: Rethinking Copyright Law: Copyright in Orphan Works (2023); Patent Disclosure System: A Perspective of the TRIPS Agreement (2016); Transformation and Innovation of the Copyright System in the Internet Era (2012); and Intellectual Property Protection in the Context of Building an Innovation-Oriented China (2008).

Professor Lu has led two projects funded by the National Social Science Fund of China, including a Youth Project rated as “Excellent.” His academic work has been recognized with several national and provincial honors, such as the Outstanding Achievement Award in Philosophy and Social Sciences and the An Zijie International Trade Award.

He holds numerous academic and advisory roles, including: Member of the Academic Committee of the Intellectual Property Research Center at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law; Vice President of the Intellectual Property Law Research Association of the Nanjing Law Society; Director of the China Intellectual Property Research Association and the China Science & Technology Law Society; External Expert in Information Technology for the Higher People’s Court of Jiangsu Province; Consulting Expert for the Intermediate People’s Court of Nanjing; Member of the Legal Expert Pool of the Jiangsu Provincial Cyberspace Administration; Advisory Expert for the Jiangsu Data Intellectual Property Pilot Program; Legal Advisor to the Liyang Municipal Committee and Municipal Government; and Expert with the Suzhou Internet Court Think Tank, among others.

Previously, he served as a professor at Nanjing University Law School, researcher at the Sino-German Institute of Law (a joint institute of Nanjing University and the University of Göttingen), visiting professor at the Southern University of Science and Technology, editor of the Nanjing University Law Journal, and director of both the Civil and Commercial Law Center and the Cyber and Information Law Center at Nanjing University Law School.
