GE Weijun

Professor Weijun Ge is from Ninghai, Zhejiang Province. He is currently a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Law, Fudan University. He also holds a series of positions, including executive director of the China Law Society's Commercial Law Research Association, vice president of the Commercial Law Research Branch of the Shanghai Judicial Think Tank Society, vice president of the Shanghai Law Society's Commercial Law Research Association, vice president of the Shanghai Law Society's Cultural Law Research Association, special professor of Shanghai courts, invited consulting expert of the First Intermediate People's Court of Shanghai, consulting expert of the Second Branch of the Shanghai People's Procuratorate, and arbitrator of arbitration institutions such as China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, Beijing Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), Beijing Arbitration Commission (BAC), Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA), Shanghai International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (SHIAC), and Shanghai Arbitration Commission (SAC).

From 1993 to 1997, Professor Ge studied at the Law Faculty of Peking University and obtained a Bachelor of Law degree (double major in Economic Law and International Economic Law). From 2000 to 2001, he studied at the Faculty of Law of the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom, taking courses such as company law and company finance, international sale of goods, and international commercial litigation, and obtained a Master of Law degree. From 2002 to 2005, he studied at the Graduate School of Law of Kyushu University in Japan, with the research topic on the company capital system and creditor protection, and obtained a Doctor of Law degree.

From 1998 to 2006, Professor Ge was a full-time lawyer and had many years of practical experience in corporate law and foreign-related law. From February 2006 to December 2021, he taught at the School of Law, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. From January to December 2010, he was on the job training at the Xinfang Office of Yangpu District, Shanghai, serving as deputy director. From September 2012 to June 2013, he was admitted to the Fulbright Research Scholar Program and visited the School of Law, Northwestern University in the United States. In 2017, he co-initiated the China-foreign Commercial Law Forum.

In January 2022, Professor Ge joined the School of Law, Fudan University, to engage in the teaching and research of commercial law and corporate law. His course Corporate Law was selected as the second batch of national first-class undergraduate courses (online first-class courses) in 2023.

His research fields cover commercial law, corporate law, trust law, and art law. He has published monographs such as Graphic Corporate Law (2024), Principles and Cases of Art Law (2021),  Corporate Charitable Donation: Legal Basis & Rule Formation (2015), Essentials of British Company Law (2014), and Share Capital Rules and Creditor Protection: Some Legal Issues (2007), translated works such as The Principles of Equity and Trusts (2018), UK Companies Act 2006 (3rd Edition) (2017), and Historical Classics and Modern Paradigms: Compilation of UK Trust Law (2017), as well as edited works such as Statutes and Cases on Company Law (3rd Edition) (2024), Statutes and Cases on the Contract Section of the Civil Code (2024), and Civil Code Handbook (2020). In 2016, his edited work The First Legal Comic Book won the second prize for excellent popular theoretical publications in the 11th Shanghai Municipal Selection of Outstanding Achievements in the Study and Publicity of the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics (2014-2015). In 2017, his monograph Corporate Charitable Donation: Legal Basis & Rule Formation won the third prize for works in the third Shanghai Municipal Selection of Outstanding Achievements in Legal Science. 

Since January 2025, he has served as a member of the Editorial Board of Civil and Commercial Law for Photocopying Newspapers and Periodicals, and a member of the Expert Committee of Academic World, the Digital Innovation Platform for the Independent Knowledge System of Chinese Philosophy and Social Sciences
