CHEN Li

CHEN Li is Vice Dean and Professor of international Law at law School of Fudan University. She is the standing councilor of China Private International Law Association and vice director of Shanghai Law Society. She is the arbitrator of both Shanghai Arbitration Commission and Shanghai International Arbitration Center. Professor Chen specializes in Private International Law, International Economic Law and Antarctic governance. In recent years, she has finished several research programs sponsored by the government which focused on the reform of Chinese arbitration law, possible solutions of China’s Non-market Economy status under the international trade remedy laws as well as the Antarctic governance. Her publications include two monographs (Inter-regional Judicial Assistance in China Under ‘One Country, Two Systems’ 2003 and The Non-Market Economy Rules under International Trade Remedy Laws: From the Perspective of U.S. and EU 2007) and more than 50 articles.

Professor Chen teaches private international law, introduction to international economic law and international commercial arbitration to both Chinese and international students at Fudan law school. She is also the supervisor of Master and Ph.D candidates. Professor Chen has been awarded several government level prizes on her teaching and research performance. Professor Chen acquired her LLB, LLM and Ph.D in Fudan University, and Post-graduate Diploma in Hong Kong University. She is the visiting scholar of Max Planck Institute for Comparative and Public International law (Germany in 2001), International and Area Study Center of Yale University (Fox International Fellowship 2004-2005), Center for Ocean Law and Policy in University of Virginia (US-China Fulbright Visiting scholar 2012-2013). Besides, She also has many opportunities to teach or participate international conferences in the U.S. Korea, Germany, UK, Denmark, Japan, Macau SAR as well as Taiwan area.
