Prof.ZHANG Naigen was elected as Vice-Chairman of Chinese Society of International Law

The 33th representative assembly of Chinese Society of International Law was held in Beijing on May 19th-20th, 2018. More than 300 international law scholars, experts and practitioners coming from universities, research institutions and governments all around the country attended this meeting. The representative assembly elected the new council, the routine council, chairman, vice-chairmen and secretary-general of the Chinese Society of International Law. The president of China University of Political Science and Law, Prof. HUANG Jin was elected as the new Chairman. Prof. ZHANG Naigen of Fudan University and 7 others were elected as Vice-Chairmen.

The Chinese Society of International Law was established in 1980. The Chinese Society of International Law boasts best representativeness in Chinese international law field, and enjoys high prestige world-wide. Fudan University has been a institutional member of the council since 1983, with its first dean Prof. DONG Shizhong and deputy dean Prof. LAI Pengchang being members of the council. With  Prof. Zhang Naigen and Prof. GONG Baihua elected as executive member of the council respectively in 2002 and 2013, Fudan University has become one of the few institutions which have two members in the routine council. In the new council (193 persons) and routine council (54 persons) of the Chinese Society of International Law, there are 4 members coming from Fudan University, namely Prof. ZHANG Naigen, Prof. GONG Baihua, Prof. MA Zhongfa and Prof. LU Zhian. Two of them are executive members of the council, namely Prof. ZHANG Naigen and Prof. GONG Baihua. One of them is vice-chairman, namely Prof. ZHANG Naigen. It represents acknowledgement given to Fudan Law School from the international law academic community of China on its development over 35 years and its academic status.
