Fudan Law School Team Shines at Beijing Pre-Moot Competition
Fudan’s Vis Moot Team has emerged the first runner-up of the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration, Beijing Pre-Moot 2018, held on 3-4 March 2018. The members of this winning team are: Wang Yun’er (LLM’20), Zeng Jing (LLM’20), Pan Wenjing (JM’19), Peng Yayuan (PhD’21), Guan Jiequan (LLB’18), Cao Xiaoyue (LLB’19), Hu Qiankang (LLB’19) and Jiang Yiling (LLB’19).
Fudan Team further swept away the best oralist awards, with our Guan Jiequan clinching the Best Oralist for the Final Round, and Cao Xiaoyue being named the Best Oralist for the General and Elimination Rounds.
The Beijing Vis Pre-Moot is organized by the CIIL, Beijing Arbitration Commission, ICC and CYAG. It is aimed at providing a platform for the Chinese teams registered to participate in the Vis (East) Moot and Vis Moot to practise and sharpen their advocacy skills. The panel of judging arbitrators invited for the Beijing Vis Pre-Moot 2018 included various distinguished judges, practitioners and scholars in the field including Madame Zhang Yuejiao, a former member of the Appellate Body of the World Trade Organization.
The team renders its utmost gratitude to Professor Chen Li, Associate Professor Lu Zhi’an, Dr. Ban Tianke, Dr. Tu Yunxin, and Dr. Chen Li for their invaluable guidance throughout our preparation for the competition. We also thank our seniors, Yu Qianqian, Fan Ruohong, Song Zhaoyi, Xu Huan, Pan Minyang, Xie Guangyu, He Nina and Wu Xi for taking time off their busy schedules to assist us.
Building on this experience, the team shall now soldier on in bid to outperform ourselves at the upcoming Moot Shanghai and Vis (East) Moot.
