Warm Welcome to the New Students of the Chinese Business Law Program

On Sept 5, 2017, a highly successful orientation was held at the LEO KOGUAN law building to welcome the new students of the Fudan Law School Chinese Business Program. 

The orientation was presided by Director Sun Lei of Fudan Law School International Affairs Office. During the session, the Vice Dean of Fudan Law School, Professor Chen Li, delivered a warm welcome speech and encouraged new students to seize the many opportunities provided by Fudan University to achieve new success. Professor Chen then reviewed the development path of the Chinese Business Law Program to the students. The Chinese Business Law Program was established in the Fall of 2010. After seven years of development, the program has, through the efforts of both teachers and staff of the faculty, become both reputable and influential. According to incomplete statistics, 27 students have graduated from this program to date, with representation from the USA, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Norway, the Netherlands, Belgium, Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, Singapore, Kazakhstan, Japan, Korea, Thailand and Australia.

 

Furthermore, Professor Chen introduced the rich history and proud achievements of the foreign exchange programs of Fudan Law School. As a business card of Shanghai, Fudan University always prioritizes the international exchange program, and the law school tirelessly promotes foreign exchange and internationalized school-running mode as well. Thus far, Fudan Law School has partnered with more than thirty law schools around the world for the exchange programs, including the law school of Columbia University (the USA), Cornell University (the USA), St. Louis University of Washington (the USA), National University of Singapore, University of Lund (Sweden), University of Amsterdam(the Netherlands).  The amount of exchange students per year reaches 60 or so. In addition, Fudan Law School povides international students with the education for all degrees from Bachelor to Doctor. Professor Chen emphasized that Fudan Law School will continue to vigorously promote the internationalized school running mode, with the Chinese Business Law Program as its core,  so as to attract more international students to study at the school in the future.

This year, 11 students with diverse undergraduate education backgrounds from 7 different countries (Ireland, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Canada, the United States and Singapore) have been admitted to the Chinese Business Law Program. In addition, 16 exchange students from Bond University (Australia), University of Ghent (Belgium), Bucerius Law School (Germany), University of Helsinki (Finland), University of Amsterdam (the Netherlands), Erasmus University (the Netherlands), Queen's University (Canada), Lund University (Sweden) and Cornell University (the USA) who are studying at Fudan Law School currently also participated in this orientation session. The students had great opportunity to meet one another and are looking forward to this new chapter in their life. 

Other teachers and members of staff who also attended and contributed in this orientation were Deputy Director of the International Affairs Office of Law School Proferssor Shi Daxiao, Teacher Liu Xi and Program Student Assistants Lu Jie, Qian Dingyi and Zhang Hanying.
